Portable Crystal Altar

Further to Pagan Pair’s post on practical constraints for witches (Quartz Crystal, simple idea for the witch with constraints – a great post and well worth a read!), I thought I would add my pennies worth :-)…

Since going to Aberystwyth university ( a few years ago) and not being able to have candles and incense lit, even in privately rented accommodation, I have always kept a portable crystal altar with me.  It’s very small and fits nicely into my handbag :-).  It means that I can safely practice ritual wherever I am, a hotel room, on the beach, etc, etc without having to worry about accidentally setting a fire alarm off or starting a fire!  These are what I use:

  • Air – Clear Quartz
  • Fire – Citrine
  • Water – Amethyst
  • Earth – Amazonite
  • The Goddess – Moonstone
  • The God – Sunstone

I usually keep a few other little trinkets with the crystals, such as a pentacle and an ankh each pyrographed onto a small piece of wood.  I then wrap them all up securely in a soft cloth, that doubles up as my mini altar cloth 🙂
