Fear and Doubt – A Poem

I wish I had a thicker skin
To be able to take your comments on the chin
To box them up, Throw them away
But Alas! they will linger here all day.
Instilling doubt, creating fear
Was that really your purpose here?
May be yes, May be no,
But either way, I wish you’d go.

I love your poem. It is simple and understated and it hits the mark.

  2. Ah now – is the narrator talking to us as the reader or a lover perhaps? Or is this some intentional ambiguity?

    • sammiwitch says:

Gosh, that’s a deep question…There is some intentional ambiguity here. It can be read as a reader, lover, friend, critic, etc. and it was written to illustrate the effect words can have on us, whether intentionally or not. Brightest Blessings ~*~)O(~*~

      • Thanks for that – I really enjoyed the poem and I think that as writers we are more aware than most about the massive impact words can have both when we write them but also on us when folks comment on our work. Great stuff, lets have some more. Brightest Blessings.

That poem was wonderful. We so often feel like this and cause others to feel it, at times deliberately.
